One of Tommasin Fondi’s recent technically demanding projects involved the manufacture of four welded ellipsoidal heads in SA-516 Grade 70N carbon steel<\/strong>, each with a diameter of 4,200 mm and a final thickness of 20 mm after forming, for a major Oil & Gas project.
The order required specific manufacturing capabilities for large-diameter components, together with compliance with the requirements associated with PRT ASME VIII Div.1 certification<\/strong> and the management of the relevant project documentation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Welded ellipsoidal heads for Oil & Gas applications<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The Oil & Gas industry requires components capable of providing reliable operation under particularly demanding service conditions. Pressure vessels, separators, process tanks and equipment for energy plants must meet stringent quality and regulatory requirements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The four heads manufactured by Tommasin are part of the company’s production of dished heads<\/a><\/strong> for highly specialised industrial applications. In this project, the combination of ellipsoidal geometry, SA-516 Grade 70N carbon steel, large dimensions and welded construction made the order particularly demanding from a manufacturing perspective.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Manufacturing 4,200 mm welded dished heads<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Producing welded ellipsoidal heads with a diameter of 4,200 mm<\/strong> and a final thickness of 20 mm after forming requires careful planning throughout the different stages of the manufacturing process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Components of this size involve significant material masses, complex handling operations and the use of dedicated equipment. These requirements are combined with the specific demands of forming and subsequent welding operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Correct execution of the different manufacturing stages therefore requires not only suitable production equipment, but also personnel with specific experience in the manufacture of large-diameter heads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PRT ASME VIII Div.1 certification and documentation management<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

One of the central requirements of this order was compliance with the requirements associated with PRT ASME VIII Div.1 certification.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For this specific supply, the manufacturing activities were also accompanied by Partial Data Report management<\/strong>, a documentation requirement expressly included within the scope of the project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From material preparation to final inspection<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Tommasin Fondi’s experience in the manufacture of dished heads made it possible to manage the different stages of the order, from material preparation and forming through to welding operations and the final inspections required by the applicable specifications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The accuracy of the manufacturing operations and the controls carried out throughout the production process made it possible to manufacture the four heads according to the customer’s specifications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This project therefore provides a practical example of Tommasin’s ability to manage supplies in which large dimensions, carbon steel, ellipsoidal geometries, welded construction and PRT ASME VIII Div.1 requirements <\/strong>must be handled within a single project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
